The other week I realised I was running low on contact lens solution. My lenses are the two-weekly type that need storing in a case filled with an all-in-one solution over night. The cases need replacing every month, and a 240ml bottle of Bausch & Lomb ReNu solution lasts me a couple of months. I’ve got plenty of lenses for now though, so I just need to buy solution and cases.
First stop, the online shop I bought my lenses and cases from last time – www.lensbase.com*. I was after a couple of bottles so 3 for £19.50 works out at £6.50 per bottle. Hmmm. Not so cheap and they haven’t got any cases in stock either. Quick search on Google Products and it seems that £6-£7 is the going rate. Time to trawl the list on lens suppliers on Quidco, the best cashback site out there. After checking a few of the sites listed I go to an old favourite – www.getlenses.com*. They have a ReNu kit containing 3½ bottles and four lens cases for £17. Much better at under £5 per bottle
. So Getlenses it is.
Now if I buy via Quidco, I’ll get 7.5% cashback from Quidco. Time to check for vouchers as well. Nothing showed up on Hot UK Deals but I seemed to remember a voucher for Getlenses coming with a CD I bought from CD-WOW a few years(!) ago. Not much chance of that being in my drawer, but a quick web search turned up the link “www.getlenses.com/cdwow”. Going direct to this gave me a £5 discount in my shopping basket after I added the lenses! Sum total £11.95. And the fact that initially going to the Getlenses site via Quidco meant that there was a slim chance that the referreral would been tracked and I’d get 7.5% off too.
Well, one working day later the doorbell goes and Postie is there with my solutions. Fantastico! Maybe I should start a blog about this stuff…
